Bear

Bear is our Christmas miracle!

Sweet Bear came to us from a loving home, where unfortunately his owner was no longer able to care for him due to some ongoing personal issues. These issues resulted in Bear not getting very much socialization while growing up, and he is experiencing many things for the first time now.

Bear needs a confident, experienced owner that can show him that the world is not as scary as he thinks it is. He is a VERY smart boy who loves affection once he is comfortable with someone. Bear took a very long time to warm up to the staff at LAWS, and he now holds a special place in all of our hearts. The trust that he has gained in the staff has helped him come out of his shell more and become less frightened of meeting new people. His confidence grows every day and he is making more brave decisions on his own as well.

This happy, high-energy boy loves to chase after a ball but has not realized that he is supposed to bring it back. He loves to jump into your arms from the ground while you are standing around and is learning that he should only do that when asked to, so as not to catch people off guard. Bear is super proud of this “circus” trick. He has the cutest “zoomies” and he bounces like a gazelle.  The dedication of the staff has helped Bear come out of his shell with clicker training techniques.

This 1.5-year-old dog would love an active home with adults only. Preferably no cats or dogs, unless they are quiet and not very reactive. Bear has had a few short interactions with another dog and a cat. He is unsure how to behave around them and needs positive and soft gentle guidance.

When Bear came into our care, we were unsure what the future would hold for him, now we know it will be merry and bright! Now we are so excited for him to go and enjoy and explore his new world with an understanding family.
