Captain Barbossa Home at Last!

It’s a story with a happy ending. Barbossa was a longtime resident at LAWS. He came to us as a 7-year old in May 2023, and immediately took charge of his care givers – our volunteers – who thought he was the smartest cat ever! He was featured in our newsletter, on our website, and was even adopted out once, but things just didn’t work out and back he came.

Then, as often happens with pets that wait so long for a home, Barbossa developed a health issue that required veterinary care and lots of TLC from our staff and volunteers. We decided to try to place him as a foster to adopt, hoping that would turn the tide for our very special boy. That’s when Nathan entered the shelter.

It was love at first sight! Nathan was right on board with all of Barbossa’s needs, bringing him in for vet checks until his fur grew back and he was the picture of health. With Nathan, Barbossa has the loving home he deserves. This is the happy ending we want for every animal at LAWS, and it would not have been possible without your support – thank you!
