From Classroom to Shelter: Supporting Co-Op Students at LAWS

At LAWS, we believe that education and hands-on experience play an important role in shaping the future of animal welfare. We’re proud to partner with local schools and colleges to provide valuable co-op opportunities for students eager to learn more about animal care and the inner workings of an animal shelter.

Each semester, we welcome co-op students from Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School, Adam Scott Collegiate Vocational Institute, and Fleming College, offering them the chance to gain real-world experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. These students work closely with our team, learning everything from daily animal care and enrichment to understanding the operations behind running a shelter.

We remain committed to expanding our educational partnerships – not just with schools, but also with community groups and supporters who share our vision. By working together, we can inspire learning, encourage empathy, and ensure that LAWS remains a trusted resource for both people and animals.
